LIFE UPDATE | NEW BLOG & JOB ROUTINE

I haven’t been totally honest with you guys. Probably you remember that I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions and those “New Year, new me” quotes. But actually this year, January 1st meant quite some changes for me. So as you were asking for some more personal insights, I hope today’s blogpost will offer exactly that. Because I’m still nor sure which personal insights might be interesting to you but is still comfortable for me to tell. But on the other side this is exactly what I’m missing in our Instagram & blog world: people that are relatable and also share their stories and thoughts and personal “behind the scenes” moments”. So please do let me know if this kind of blogpost is interesting to you & if you would like to see more of it.

But back to the topic: especially in the last few weeks I got more questions if I’m a fulltime blogger or how do I manage my job with my blog and everything. Last year I shared with you some insights about my job hereÊand let you know that I’m working fulltime from Monday to Friday in an office job in the banking industry. During the year, there were more and more thoughts circling inside my head and doubting my work routine. It was not really about the job itself, but more about finding the right balance. With working fulltime, doing the blog thing and of course friends, family, a private life and sports and and and – I felt more and more overwhelmed by it. And within the last two years, I experienced more than once that there is nothing more important than health and your loved ones. So at the end of the day, my bank balance or the next promotion wasn’t at all what bothered me, but if my loved ones and I are healthy and happy. Probably this thinking also comes from my constant change in relation to work. With 28 years I worked already at three different employers and (not to sound precocious) but this gives me that kind of peace and calmness when it comes to work, that I’m a firm believer that there will always be a good job out there for me.

That was the point when I was asking myself: how can I get a better balance between work and my private life and blog? Happily, my boss was reacting totally open to these questions so that we decided that I would start to workÊpart-time on aÊ4-day-basis. So since January this concept has been started and even though I’m still 4 days at the office, I’m more than happy about my Friday off. the Friday totally belongs to me and my ideas- whether that’s blog-related or to spend time with family and friends or doing something totally different. But I can already feel how happy and energized I am since I started this new routine. Creativity and happiness have made it’s way into my little home office and it’s definitely worthÊmore than some missing money on my part-time- salary now. 😉 So the year has started in such a good way, that I can’t wait to see what else is going to happen during 2019!

So here we go: you might not need New Years resolutions but if you are unhappy with how you’re handling your routines right now, I would definitely ask you to think openly how to change it. I’m sure the working environment that we are living in is changing into a more and more flexible one, so think about new possibilities and how you would like to work from now on. 🙂
