Focus Sustainability: Organic Basics
After my first blog post of the new series focusing on sustainability, I’m more than happy to continue the series today with a company based in Denmark. Organic Basics is focusing mostly on underwear but slowly expanding into sportswear as well as eco-friendly essentials such as tooth brushes, washing bags, etc. The credo is “Conscious everyday essentials for men and women -made in organic and recycled materials.”
And you will be surprised about the super soft cotton as well as futuristic fibers as SilverTech, Polygiene and more. What they all have in common? They are natural, renewable, recycled, biodegradable and/ or low-impact textiles only. If you’re interested in learning more, you should definitely check out their guide about fabrics and pratices.Ê
Organic Basics is not only keeping an eye on the materials but also on their factories of course. The whole supply chain is transparent with only trusted and certified factory partners. Why? Because in general: Fashion is dirty. In fact – itÕs the third most polluting industry in the world and one of the largest consumers of water on the planet. Fashion is responsible for 20% of the worldÕs water pollution. But even for this, Organic Basics got a secret recipe: in general, the thsirts and underwear don’t need to be washed as often as usual so you can save lots of water if you wash less and skip the dryer!
So I guess these are more than enough reasons to think about sustainable fashion and invest in only one or two supersoft, eco-friendly white shirts instead of having ten, right? 🙂
