PARTY PLANNER | HOW TO HOST A BABY SHOWER
ÊAs already promised, today I want to share with you some impressions from the baby shower that I planned for a close friend of mine. Actually, it has been the first time for me planning a baby shower, but probably not the last (seems like we all are getting older and more Ògrown upÓ 😉 ). As I can be quite a perfectionist when it comes to decoration and planning, I already started some months ago in gathering ideas and planning the day of the party. So here is a little guide line, that helped me to keep on track. Probably you can use it to any kind of party Ð so letÕs go:
1. | FIND A THEME
Ok if youÕre planning a baby shower, you might not really need a theme, as it will be about babies anyways right. 😉 But you can adapt this tip to any kind of party planning (for your next motto party / New YearÕs Eve etcÉ .) Anyways, I think that one could say that I am totally addicted to Pinterest for collecting ideas and sorting my inspiration. As I already knew that my friend is not a fan of that typical babyblue/ babypink theme, we decided to go for a more neutral color scheme: different shades of grey (and silver) with a dash of yellow and of course white as the basis. Actually, I did not find that much inspo about grey-white-yellow baby showers. But that didnÕt really matter, as I was interested in general in candy bars, decoration and party ideas.
So hereÕs a screenshot of what my babyshower pinterest board looked like:
You can see that I love pompoms, balloons, tassels and all sorts of bakery & candy bars. So now the different part started: where to get all these fancy things & how to bake all that stuff? 🙂
2. | DECORATION
ÊTalking about decoration, I must say that the US and probably also some other countries have been doing baby showers since ages. But in Germany, it only became a trend a few years ago. Consequently, there are only a handful of online shops focusing on these kinds of parties. But I wouldnÕt be a perfectionist, if I would not have researched the whole internet in order to get everything that I wanted. JÊ So most of the decoration comes from Amazon, Babybellyparty and some shops here in Berlin (Xenos, Depot etc.). Also, I used Etsy and Creative Market to get inspiration regarding inviations. You will find lots of artists offering their designs so you can print them at home.

3. | CANDY BAR, THE CAKE & MORE FOOD
The candy bar has been quite a long process. First, I wanted to order a cake as it seemed the easiest and safest way (a last-minute cake disaster would have drove me crazy hahaha.). But as my favorite bakery here in Berlin didnÕt take any orders for custom-made cakes, I found myself wondering if I should not give it a try. So I decided to ÒcheatÓ a bit by buying the flan base and not baking it by myself. This way, I could totally focus on the filling, the ganache as well as the fondant cover and decoration. The two-storey cake was filled with a fresh lemon-yoghurt cream and white-chocolate ganache. (I think IÕve watched tons of youtube-Videos in advance, to make sure that my two-level cake will last and that the fondant on top will look perfect hahaha).
Apart from that, I baked some vanilla muffins and lemon cakepops. For the salads and sandwiches, I luckily got some support from ÒLieferandoÓ. They provided us with delicious savory snacks, which were delivered just in time for the beginning of the party.
4. | PHOTOBOOTH & ENTERTAINMENT
When I started to look for baby shower inspiration, I also found out how many (ridiculous!) games there are. Well, I did not want to try different kinds of baby food from diapers Ð Nop, thanks! And there were so many of these weird gamesÉ . 😉 So I handled it a bit different and only prepared one game plus a photobooth. The photobooth came with all kinds of accessories (I bought this set here). And we also took the photos with an instant camera, so that we can prepare an album for the mummy to be and each of us could take one picture home as a souvenir.
Apart from that, I only prepared a game where everyone needed to guess which baby photo belongs to which present photo of all guests and the mum-to-be. It was harder to guess than we thought Ð so this one definitely was lots of fun! 🙂
So I hope you enjoyed this a bit different post here on Style Appetite Ð let me know if you also planned a baby shower before? And where do you get your inspirations from for decoration & party planning ?Ê ?
